Hmmm, might have to get to that one a bit sooner ;)

These are helpful suggestions and I like that you included cons as well as pros. I do find that the flow interruption of attending to emails as they come in can be quite disruptive. I’ve heard of people setting “office hours” or a dedicated time of the day for checking and responding to emails, which I like the idea of. I like to do mine in the late afternoon when I tend to have less focus anyway. What do you think about dedicating a time of day to email?

Yeah that is the thing about productivity. It is more of a one size fits one kind of thing. What works for one person is disaster for someone else, so you have to find what works for you. Blocking out time for tasks (aka Timeboxing) is on tap for an upcoming newsletter. Email work is a great use-case for that. Thanks for the comment.

“Timeboxing” — I like that! I didn’t know the term. Yes, you do have to find what works. I do find that responding to my emails right away, as you suggested in your post, is the best plan provided that I have set aside the time to do it. I’m looking forward to reading your post about timeboxing.
