I Need 30 People
I've been carrying this idea around for a while. Here's what I finally did with it.
My wife and I were in Chicago a few weeks ago. We spent an afternoon at the Art Institute, crammed in as much as we could, and left exhausted in the best way.
I’ve been lucky. I’ve walked through some of the greatest art museums in the world. Paris. Rome. New York. And every time, I leave with this strange mix of feelings. Awe, yes. But also something quieter. A low-grade sadness I’ve never quite been able to shake.
All of this beauty. And so many people will never see it.
Not because they don’t care. Because it’s not in their world. It’s behind a building, behind a ticket, behind a city they may never visit. Art lives in places most people don’t go.
I’ve been sitting with that feeling for years. And recently, I decided to do something small about it.
It’s called PostARTing.
The idea is pretty simple. An actual artist makes you an original handmade postcard and mails it to you. No prints. No AI art. Something made by a human, for you, that shows up in your mailbox.
For the artist, it’s a chance to get their work into the world. Into someone’s hands. Kept, not scrolled past.
We’re running a free pilot. Thirty spots. If you want one, sign up at postarting.com. In exchange, I’ll ask for a little honest feedback about what it was like to receive it.
That’s the whole thing.
I don’t know if PostARTing turns into something big. That’s not necessarily the goal.
But what I do know is that more art in more hands is a good thing. And this felt like a way to do something about that quiet feeling instead of just carrying it home from the museum.
So if you want to help kick the tires on this little project or you just want something fun in the mail or perhaps a bit of both, pop on over and…
It starts with thirty postcards. Let’s see where it goes.
Ever Forward,
— Derek (aka Chief Rabbit)
