My Chief Rabbit has told me to stay
and defend this run, and until he says otherwise,
I shall stay here.

— Bigwig (from Watership Down)

What is Chief Rabbit

Chief Rabbit is a mindset. A perspective. A guide for simplifying what feels overwhelming.

More specifically, it’s a weekly newsletter for 25,000+ overthinkers, go-getters, and accidental procrastinators who want to get more done, think more clearly, and lead with purpose. There is focus. There is progress. There is the occasional life-changing metaphor involving rabbits.

Why is it called Chief Rabbit?

The name “Chief Rabbit” is rooted in both personal significance and inspiration from one of my favorite books, Watership Down by Richard Adams. There’s a powerful moment in the story when Bigwig, facing insurmountable odds, declares:
"My Chief Rabbit has told me to stay and defend this run, and until he says otherwise, I shall stay here."

This idea of loyalty, leadership, and unwavering determination resonates deeply with me.

Choosing the name was a deliberate process. I wanted something that:

  • Is fun and unique.

  • Has four syllables or fewer.

  • Holds personal significance.

  • Has an available URL.

  • Isn’t offensive.

The word “chief” comes from the Old French chef, meaning “leader” or “head.” Its origins are neutral, tied to concepts of leadership and responsibility, not marginalization or appropriation. After thoughtful consideration, I felt this name embodied the mission of the newsletter—helping busy people lead themselves and others with intention, simplicity, and strength.

So, whether you're looking to sharpen your focus, lead more effectively, or simply find a new perspective, Chief Rabbit is here to guide you.
